Keane Live @ Islington

Keane came from nowhere to become the biggest-selling band of 2004 and of course Xfm were there from the start. Check out our exclusive live session from Keane, including two brand new tracks, right here.

The welcome success of Keane is a sure sign that 'proper' music (as a rule of thumb, music that sells more albums than it does ringtones) is back on the country's mind after altogether too long spent miming along to focus-grouped pop.

From the driving, soaring melodies of smash hit 'Everybody' Changing' (tossed off with glorious confidence just one song into the set) to the traumatic, dramatic 'We Might As Well Be Strangers'Tom Chaplin's unique voice shivers and soars with a passion it's impossible to fake. And it's his birthday, which he celebrates with a nice sing along.

You can also hear a couple of exclusive new tracks; 'Nothing In Your Way' is a desolate, haunting farewell to an old lover while 'Hamburg Song' delicately weaves itself around Oxley's piano and voice. On this form, the next Keane album will be gloriously dark indeed.

Inspiring the kind of joy and devotion many more experienced bands can only wish for, watch Keane play a blinder of a gig.
