Idlewild Storm Xfm Gig…Twice!

Idlewild thrilled a packed out London's Islington Academy last night (May 11) as Xfm Jameson's Live Session competition ticket winners witnessed not one, but two live sets from the Scottish five piece.
Due on stage at 9pm with no support act, Idlewild surprised fans by arriving on stage at 8:30pm announcing they’d decided to “support themselves”. The band proceeded to perform a 40-minute set of acoustic versions of some of their biggest hits and tracks from their latest album including ‘You Held The World In Your Arms’, 'Disconnected' and ‘Welcome Home’. Promising not to repeat any songs later in the electric set, frontman Roddy Woomble’s plea of, “I hope you all like us, because this is going to be a very long evening” was met with cheers from the crowd.
Leaving the stage for twenty minutes and a costume change (ever-dapper Woomble changed his T-shirt for a floaty blue shirt, fact fans), the band returned shortly after 9pm for an hour-long ‘plugged’ set. ‘I Understand It’, ‘Love Steals Us From Loneliness’, ‘American English’ and older tracks ‘Roseability’, ‘Little Discourage’ and ‘When I Argue I See Shapes’.
The next Live Session in association with Jameson Whisky will taking place on Wedensday May 18 and once again the Islington Academy will play host to another exclusive session, this time from The Coral. Tickets will only be available from Xfm so listen out on air or click here for a chance to be at this very special performance.
In other Idlewild news, the band have confirmed they will be headlining the Summer Sundae Weekender at DeMontford Hall in Leicester this Summer alongside the likes of Mylo, The Bees and Lemon Jelly. Idlewild will be the Friday night (August 12) headliner at the festival which takes place from August 12 til 14.
