Green Day Sign Up For Hurricane Relief Gig

Following their win at this weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards, godfathers of punk pop Green Day have announced they are to join a bill to raise money for those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
Green Day will join a line-up including Usher, Ludacris and Alicia Keys who have signed on for the Hurricane Katrina relief concert that will span three cities and three TV networks.
Also involved are Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, David Banner, Gretchen Wilson and John Mellencamp, spread across events in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville on September 10. The gig will air across MTV, VH1 and CMT with all proceeds from the show going to help the American Red Cross.
Judy McGrath, MTV CEO said: "In the face of a tragedy of this scope, we simply have to do everything in our power to offer support, comfort and hope to all the people directly impacted by the hurricane. Our goal is to join forces on every medium to get involved, to volunteer, to contribute in any way we can."
