Funeral For A Friend Deep In Conversation

With their critically acclaimed second album 'Hours' out this week, Welsh rocksters Funeral For A Friend hit Music: Response to play live and chat, nay flirt, with Sarah Darling.

One of the more successful UK bands channelling US emo acts of the late '90s, Funeral For A Friend first proved they were a cut above their peers with the inventive 'Casually Dressed And Deep In Conversation' debut in 2003. Much critical acclaim from the specialist rock press followed but now - with the storming follow-up 'Hours' - the Welsh five-piece have delivered a record so inventive that genre boundaries are largely irrelevent.

Hitting Music: Response in the middle of a torturous touring and promotional schedule, FFAF were nonetheless upbeat, enthusiatically discussing 'Hours', heaping praise upon producer Terry Date and 'fessing up to the fear they felt opening up for Iron Maiden [listen] .

Galloping guitar riffs keep pace with shredded vocals skating on the edge of misery - a classic angsthem complete with talky bit in the middle.

The next single - more spacious so the sinister, histrionic vocals have more room to breathe; 'There are monsters here/Dare you to scream'. Nasty.

Funeral For A Friend 'History' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] Exclusive Online Track!
Not just the obligatory ballad, but gentle and hymn-like with sparkly guitars and a calm anthemic chorus, like a less wet Coldplay.
