Franz Ferdinand To Play For Parliament?

Franz Ferdinand are rumoured to be joining Idlewild and Mull Historical Society to play the new Scottish Parliament, Holyrood.
According to the Daily Record newspaper, the band have been approached to headline the concert which will take place in the controversial £400m Edinburgh building’s garden lobby area.
"We're looking at Franz Ferdinand for Holyrood,” concert promoter Donald McLeod told the paper, “We are fishing around the calendar to find a date."
The gig has been prompted by Franz’s worldwide success and a new report that claims that the music industry brings in £109m a year to the Scottish economy.
Organisers are hoping that the event will boost government support for music in Scotland, using the example of Franz, whose US career was kick-started by a Scottish Arts Council - funded trip to play the South By Southwest new music festival in Texas.
Already pencilled in to play the event in June are Idlewild - recently named one of the best Scottish bands of all time by The List magazine - Mull Historical Society and a host of other top Scottish bands.
Full details of the concert are to be unveiled during a debate at the parliament on the music industry on Wednesday March 16, to be entitled 'Franz Ferdinand Rocks' and led by Pauline McNeil, MSP for Glasgow.
Franz Ferdinand will also be playing the fifth annual series of Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The band will be heading up the April 5 event with support from Graham Coxon and Kaiser Chiefs, while Keane will be topping the bill on April 7.
Tickets are available from the Royal Albert Hall on 0207 589 8212 and www.royalalberthall.com, Ticketmaster on 0871 230 2614 and www.ticketmaster.co.uk or SEE Tickets via the TCT Hotline on 0870 386 0550 and www.seetickets.co.uk.
