Franz Ferdinand And Keane Play Teenage Cancer Gig

Franz Ferdinand and Keane will be joining Peter Kay when they play a Teenage Cancer Trust charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
The fifth annual series of Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall this year sees a host of acts playing to raise money for the charity across five nights from April 4 to 8.
Xfm can confirm that Franz Ferdinand will be heading up the April 5 event with support from Graham Coxon and Kaiser Chiefs, while Keane will be topping the bill on April 7.
There will also be a Gibson Guitar Night on April 4 featuring Robert Plant and special guests, a comedy night hosted by Peter Kay and the final night on April 8 features UB40 and guests including Eric Clapton and event organiser Roger Daltrey.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing Franz Ferdinand, one of the most exciting live bands in the country, fresh from their triumph at the Brit Awards.” Daltrey said in a statement,
“By supporting this event, you can make a real difference to thousands of teenagers with cancer and to future generations. Our units offer an anticipated 15% increase in survival rates and it is our goal to ensure every teenager with cancer has access to one.”
Teenage Cancer Trust Chairman, Dr Adrian Whiteson added, “These shows really do make a difference. Including the £750,000 we raised from the Royal Albert Hall gigs in 2004, the four previous concerts have facilitated the building of two dedicated teenage cancer units.
Last year’s comedy night, billed as ‘An Evening With Alan Partridge’ included performances from Ricky Gervais, Little Britain’s Matt Lucas and David Walliams and Jimmy Carr, while previous Teenage Cancer Trust shows have featured performances from Oasis, The Who, Paul Weller, Coldplay, Ash, Doves, Madness and Eric Clapton.
Tickets are available from the Royal Albert Hall on 0207 589 8212 and www.royalalberthall.com, Ticketmaster on 0871 230 2614 and www.ticketmaster.co.uk or SEE Tickets via the TCT Hotline on 0870 386 0550 and www.seetickets.co.uk.
