Doves Want Delia Smith For Next Record
Doves have confirmed they’re looking to a bizarre source for inspiration saying they want to sample Delia Smith’s ‘drunken football outburst’ for a forthcoming track.
The celebrity cook’s infamous "Let's be 'aving you" outburst at the recent Norwich vs Manchester City match looks set to feature on new material by Doves. The band recently screened the footage of Smith running onto Norwich City's Carrow Road pitch and berating fans before their encore at a recent gig at the University of East Anglia.
Surprisingly, the audiences reaction to the clip was such that the band have joked they may use a sample of it in a future recording. "The crowd were already chanting the Delia quote,” The Sun reports an unnamed Dove to have said, "So when the film started it went down very well. Nice one, Delia. We're not sure if she's a bit worried about her outburst. We've yet to get a reply from her office."
The cook - also Norwich City FC's chairman - hit the headlines when she stormed the pitch and while seemingly-intoxicated yelled at supporters over the public address system as her team and Manchester City were drawing 2-2 in February.
Despite her (some assumed drunken) rallying call of, "We need a 12th man here. Where are you? Where are you? Let's be 'aving you! Come on! Come on!" Norwich subsequently lost the match 3-2.
Last night (April 18) a Norwich spokesman said, "We can't say what her response to the Doves would be."
Doves release a new single 'Snowden' on May 9 while the album 'Some Cities' is out now. The band will play beneath The Killers and White Stripes on the Friday of Glastonbury 2005.
