'Some Cities'
"We're not stockists, we're not town planners either, but it's just our feelings and thoughts about coming home from touring and seeing all this change happening in things that we love."
[listen]
'Black And White Town'
"It's our first - we think - our first proper Northern Soul song. We've touched on it before with 'Here It Comes' and stuff, but it's our first full go at it."
[listen]
'Almost Forgot Myself'
"It's about escaping yourself - the usual Doves lyrical theme - be that drugs, be that music, be that whatever floats your boat."
[listen]
'Snowden'
"We wrote it while we were in Snowdonian National Park in a cottage, a pretty 'Withnail & I' cottage, pretty rundown place."
[listen]
'The Storm'
"We all lost people very close to us in the lasr couple of years, family and stuff, it's almost like a reassurance that they wouldn't want you to mourn, not for too long - 'Don't be sad I'm gone/Don't be sad be strong'. It's almost got that afterlife vibe."
[listen]
'Walk In Fire'
"I suppose the song's about a friend of mine - who I'm not going to name. Everyone knows somebody who loses their way a bit, maybe likes a drink. It's just sort of saying 'Come back to us'."
[listen]
'One of These Days'
"It's more of a story, it paints some pictures about friend drifting away."
[listen]
'Someday Soon'
"We tried to shoehorn some drums in early doors but it started sounding a bit German-beer-drinking-song..."
[listen]
'Shadows of Salford'
"We read somewhere that there're more famous people from Salford than any other city..."
[listen]
'Sky Starts Falling'
"It's pretty pop really, it's quite flippant, there's sarcasm in it. It's a bit barbed, a bit spiky."
[listen]
'Ambition'
"The song itself is about how ambition can ruin you, if you're over ambitious sometimes it can be detrimental."
