Dinosaur Jr And Megadeth For Download

added 02 March 2005 at 14.21

American underground legends Dinosaur Jr and Megadeth will make history at this year's Download Festival for almost opposite reasons - and Megadeth have stunned fans by revealing that their slot will be their last UK gig ever.

Dinosaur Jr’s founder members J Mascis and Lou Barlow will be sharing a stage for the first time in fifteen years – and their first British show in a decade. The band originally formed in 1983 and is renowned for being largely responsible for the surge in popularity for Grunge in the late-eighties/early nineties. They’ve also been confirmed to play the Mount Fuji Festival in Japan.

However, Dave Mustaine’s legendary heavy metal outfit has decided that their appearance at the event will be their last ever on UK soil.

In other Download news, it has just been announced Biffy Clyro, The Used, JJ72 and My Chemical Romance will also play the festival.

Black Sabbath, System Of A Down and Feeder are headlining the event alongside Billy Idol, Velvet Revolver, Slipknot, Slayer, HIM and Garbage. Needless to say there’s still many more acts to be announced over the coming months.

Download 2005 takes place at Donington Park, Leicestershire, from 10-12 June.
