Brutilicious - Art Brut Hit Music: Response

added 10 December 2004 at 15.34

They met in Burger King and write songs about misbehaving in art galleries. Art Brut play live and chat to Ian Camfield about squat parties, Top Of The Pops and their plans for 2005.

Art Brut are against traditional behavioural norms in art galleries and have named their next single 'Emily Kane' after a girlfriend one of them had aged 15. Aah.

The boys chatted to Ian Camfield about their plans to kidnap Andi Peters and make him book them on Top Of The Pops ‘Being sandwiched between Beyonce and Jamelia would be perfect’, new album title ideas ‘Brutilicious’ and the NME cool list ‘It was the wrong way around’ [listen]

Art Brut 'My Little Brother' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Second single and the flip to double A-side, 'Modern Art' is a concisely catchy number with bouncy riffs, throbbing bass and memorable lyrics ‘my little brother just discovered rock ‘n’ roll, there’s a noise in his head and he’s out of control', finishing off with a warning to 'Stay off the crack' obviously Eddie Argos is worried about the 'East London scene'.

Art Brut 'Bad Weekend' [Dial-Up] [Broadband
Apparently Art Brut haven’t read the NME in so long they don't know in which genre they belong and popular culture no longer applies to them. There're also mentions of Topshop fashionistas and how easy it is to form a band and get on Top Of The Pops.
