British Sea Power, VV&TV, Alterkicks

British Sea Power headline another night of future music for London with support from the flamboyant Vincent Vincent and The Villains and Liverpudlian quintet Alterkicks. Watch all three sets here.
British Sea Power 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
You may have feared that eschewing their trademark stuffed animals and military uniforms would, Samson-style, rob British Sea Power of the quiet, unrelenting power that has long beaten just beneath their music's idiosyncratic surface. Kicking off with an irresistible double whammy of 'It Ended On An Oily Stage' and 'Remember Me', the boys from Brighton seem to be growing in stature with every note and it's hard not to believe we're not witnessing a band literally moving to the next level.
By the time new single, the gleamingly anthemic, pitch-perfect 'Please Stand Up' is unveiled, there can be no doubt. This will almost certainly be the last time you see British Sea Power between four walls this small. Enjoy it while you can.

Imagine the kind of band that might emerge from the East End these days, and a '50s lighthearted rockabilly combo, complete with barbershop harmonies and skiffle drumwork, probably isn't the first thing to spring to mind.
Nevertheless, Vincent Vincent & The Villains have been spreading some old tyme rock 'n' roll around Bethnal Green for some time now and - as the recent double-A side single 'Blue Boy'/'The Boy Who Killed Time' attests - their infectious energy is just as irresistible on record as it is live.

Alterkicks 'X-posure Live'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Despite having headlined just above a church raffle in the not too distant past, Liverpudlian quintet Alterkicks have recently hit the record store racks for the first time courtesy of Fierce Panda with the catchy, lighthearted rock of 'Do Everything I Taught You'.
They're now poised to take the next step up rock's greasy pole, and from the jagged, strident vibe of set opener 'Oh Honey' to the magnificently-titled 'The Cannibal Hiking Disaster', tonight they prove themselves more than worthy of promotion.
