Hot on the heels of news of their upcoming UK tour, Bloc Party have revealed that they will be playing a host of festival dates this summer including Glastonbury.

The band are currently riding high as the 'Band Most Likely To Succeed In 2005', topping the numerous lists of band of the year polls, and their new single ‘So Here We Are’ is ripping up the airwaves across the nation.

Now frontman Kele Okereke has revealed the band's summer festival plans ahead of the release of their debut album. According to Okereke, Bloc Party will play Glastonbury and the Carling Reading and Leeds Weekender festivals, with probably more dates to be added.

"2004 was amazing for us and this year should be even better," he explained to Virtual Festivals, "Provided we can stay sane! We've been booked to play Glastonbury, which we haven't done before, and Reading and Leeds. We're also in talks with T In The Park and Oxegen about playing those."

The band have announced they will be playing four shows in Edinburgh (March 1), Sheffield (2), London (4) and Portsmouth (5) around the release of their debut album ‘Silent Alarm’, out on February 14. Support on the tour will come from Pretty Girls Make Graves and Battle (London only).

The band also release a new single ‘So Here We Are’ a fortnight earlier on January 31 which will come backed with a re-recorded version of ‘The Marshalls Are Dead’ which originally appeared on the band’s debut 7” and ‘Positive Tension’, which also features on ‘Silent Alarm’.

And Bloc Party will also be supporting Razorlight on February 12 at their Alexandra Palace show.
