Bloc Party Debut New Material At Xfm Session!

added 25 August 2005 at 09.29

Bloc Party gave Xfm an exclusive live performance of their new single ‘Two More Years’ last night (August 25) as part of their storming Xfm Live Session.

Bloc Party delivered a sure-fire Hall of Fame performance last night as they joined a back-catalogue of The Streets, The Thrills, The Music, Kasabian, Athlete, Ash, Keane, Idlewild, The Tears and The Ordinary Boys as the latest band to play an Xfm Live Session.

Drawing from their Mercury Prize-nominated debut ‘Silent Alarm’ and early tracks, the four-piece also gave the debut live performance of new single ‘Two More Years’ with frontman Kele Okereke noting, “I suppose this must be an Xfm World Exclusive!”

Clearly having the time of their lives in the sweaty 900-capacity Islington Academy, Bloc Party thrilled a selection Xfm competition winners with over an hour of hits in a high-energy set.

Arriving on stage around 9pm, the band launched straight into Like Eating Glass’ before igniting the venue with recent back catalogue hits ‘Banquet’, 'Little Thoughts’ and an uncharacteristically pummelling 'This Modern Love'. Closing with a final 'Helicopter’, a grinning Kele led the band back onstage to encore with ‘Two More Years’, ‘So Here We Are’, ‘Price Of Gas’ and a final shimmering ‘Pioneers’.
