Bloc Party Cancel Live Dates

added 01 September 2005 at 14.02

Following their triumphant Reading and Leeds headline sets on the NME Stage, recent Xfm Live Session stars Bloc Party have been forced to pull a number of their forthcoming live dates.

Due to problems with singer Kele Okereke’s voice Bloc Party have been forced to cancel their appearance at Italian festival I-Days as well as tomorrow’s (September 2) Virgin Digital launch in London.

A spokesperson released the following statement, “Kele has just been in to see a Harley Street specialist regarding his voice He had a few problems this weekend prior to the Reading show and has been hoarse ever since.

“He has been ordered to rest it completely for a week therefore we will have to cancel both the I-days Fest in Italy and the Virgin Digital launch on Friday.”

Organisers have confirmed that the band’s performance at the Nationwide Mercury Prize next week and their North American and UK tour dates will not be affected.

‘Two More Years’ is released as a single on October 3 while the album ‘Silent Alarm: Remixed’ is released this week (August 29). Bloc Party have also been nominated for this year's Nationwide Mercury Prize.
