Biffy Clyro, Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies, Three Children of Fortune

More future music for London courtesy of John Kennedy and X-posure Live; cult crowdpleasers Biffy Clyro are supported by two of our most promising new acts; spacey Home Counties four-piece Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies and Medway rock urchins Three Children of Fortune. Watch all three sets on-demand, right here.

Biffy Clyro 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]

As you might be able to tell from the word-perfect crowd singalongs, between song chants of 'We love you Biffy! We do!' and the half dozen requests shouted out ahead of each track, Biffy Clyro attract a particualrly rabid and devoted fanbase. In fact, the Scottish three-piece are the best worst kept secret on the UK alternative scene.

Despite boasting songs like '57' - an anthemic singalong bristling with melodies custom built for echoing around Wembley Arena - Biffy Clyro have yet to trouble the mainstream and still rehearse in the same YMCA room for £10 a week. That may be because for every infectious melody there's a bloodied-fingernails-down-a-blackboard moment of unbridled intensity. 'Eradicate The Doubt' swings from a spacious, Emo-tastic melody into a raw-throated screamathon and the 'Strung To Your Ribcage' complements its Top of The Pops-friendly title with a particularly unrelenting chorus.

Biffy's tendancy to deliberately vandalise their more melodic moments may compromise their potential for world domination, but there's a furious joy waiting for those who care to discover it.

Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]

Armed with a love of lengthy song titles - check the pithy 'A Little Later He Stumbled Through The Door And Into Her Eyes' - Youthmovie Soundtrack Strategies songs are to three minute pop tracks what an atlas is to a Little Chef map.

The surprisingly fresh-faced four piece (epic post rock traditionally being the preserve of beareded forty somethings) wade through great swathes of melody, ambient sound and furious riffage in the course of their lengthy sonic perambulations.

With the snappily-titled 'Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than The Last; The Inexorable March Of Progress Will Lead Us All To Happiness...' mini-album still doing the business, Youthmovie Soundtrack are well on the way to proving themesleves much, much more than just a sub-editor's nightmare.

Three Children Of Fortune 'X-posure Live' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]

Quite how a band as furiously melodic and razor sharp as Three Children Of Fortune have evaded mainstream attention, even for the two short years they've been in existence, is a mystery. But then, that's why John Kennedy gets the big bucks.

Blessed with a stylishly cynical frontman in Tommy (TCOF don't do surnames) and tracks like 'Let Me Sleep', 'Grenade' and 'Ghost Clothes' - all at once raw, visceral and beautifully crafted - 'Three Children...' should by rights be kicking snarling and spitting their way to the arenas as we speak. Still, on this evidence it's only a matter of time.
