After years roaming the country playing blues standards the 22-20s finally decided to write some songs of their own. You'll be glad they did - check them out live in session for Xfm.

More casualties of the modern music industry's faster-than-light curse that can see a good band discovered, raved about and then written off before they've so much as committed a note to tape, 22-20s neatly sidestepped having to deal with the hype directly with the release of the '05/03' EP last year. Now with their nonetheless-eagerly-awaited debut proper on its way the young firebrands came by Xfm to play live.
As they kick off with the superb single 'Shoot Your Gun' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] it's immediately clear where all the excitement comes from, it's a belter of a tune - wrapped around a staccato, relentless drumbeat like flesh is wrapped around bone, Martin Trimble's voice is truly heartstopping as he half-breathes/half-thunders 'Where'd you learn to shoot your gun so straight?'
The brace of follow ups - the cuckold's ho-down of 'Why Don't You Do It For Me?' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] and 'Such A Fool' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] - were always going to pale slightly in comaprison to such a powerful opener but 22-20s are still way ahead of the game and don't look like putting a foot wrong anytime soon.
