X-clusive: Ryan Adams Cancels Dates

Xfm can confirm that early reports speculating that Ryan Adams may have broken his arm after falling out off stage during a gig in Liverpool are indeed true, with the ’difficult’ singer being forced to cancel dates on his current European Tour.

Adams was playing the Liverpool Royal Court yesterday night (January 22) but fell off the edge of the stage during his set.

The Liverpool Post quotes a fan at the concert saying, "It was about two-thirds of the way through the show. Ryan was playing one minute, and then he suddenly disappeared from view and there was a sickening thud."

“Although he tried to continue, it soon became clear he was badly injured and the houselights went up signalling the end of the show.”

He was taken to the Royal Liverpool Hospital for treatment, leading to rumours that he had broken this arm.

Xfm Online can confirm that his arm has been broken and as a result Adams has cancelled his forthcoming tour dates in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain.

The singer was expected to return to the UK for gigs at The Dome in Brighton (February 8), the Birmingham Academy (8) and London’s Brixton Academy (10). While these have not been officially cancelled at time of writing, a spokesperson for Adams apologised to fans and said it is “unlikely” the UK gigs will take place, before explaining, “It depends how quick it takes for his arm to repair, but I can’t see a broken arm repairing in two week.”

The cancelled dates are:

  • Live Music Hall Koln, Germany (January 24)
  • Ancienne Belgique Brussels, Belgium (25)
  • Grosse Freiheit Hamburg, Germany (27)
  • Huxley's Berlin, Germany (28)
  • Wuk Vienna, Austria (30)
  • Backstage Munchen, Germany (31)
  • C-Side Milano, Italy (February 1)
  • Razzmatazz 2 Barcelona, Spain (4)
  • Aqualang Madrid, Spain (5)

The dates under review are:

  • The Dome, Brighton (February 8)
  • Birmingham Academy (8)
  • Brixton Academy London (10)
