X-clusive: Franz Ferdinand Go Back To School

Following the success of Christian O’Connell’s Rock School this week, Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos has given his official seal of approval to the competition.

Xfm can reveal that the music world’s finest bands have been checking out the Xfm Rock School competition entries, including Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos. It appears Kapranos has been listening to the Rock School demos online here and has passed on the following comment,

"Could you pass on to whoever it is organising things there that I thoroughly enjoyed listening to The Infected's version of ‘Take Me Out’ and The Raid's cover of ‘Michael’.

“Both don't sound a million miles away from our original demos. Actually, they're both better than our original demos."

Another famous fan of Rock School is Tom Meighan from Kasabian, who voted for The Displacements as they went to his old school, saying "Us Leicester boys have got to stick together."

The five final bands, Isobel, Exit Stage Left, The Displacements, Outl4w, The Hush battled it out at the Marquee Club in Leicester Square on Friday November 26 in front of a celebrity judging panel. In the end Isobel triumphed and they'll play the Xfm Winter Wonderland, opening up for The Departure, The Zutons, Razorlight and Embrace at the Hammersmith Apollo in West London on December 5.
