Travis Work Without A Record Label

added 02 August 2004 at 10.18

If any Travis fans are wondering what the band have been up to recently, the truth seems to have finally emerged. Instead of writing heart-wrenching songs about war and peace, Fran Healy and his band of Scots troubadours have recorded an album with unsigned singer-songwriter Susie Hug.

Travis frontman Healy provides backing vocals for the Japanese-American singer claiming "When I first heard her music, it made the hairs on my arms stand up. I don't know what the hell in a song makes that happen, but it did. Her stuff makes me cry. It's the real thing."

Apparently when Healy chanced upon Hug’s songs he was so impressed that he offered Travis's services. However, the album has taken two years to put together as sessions had to fit around their own touring and recording schedule. Hug, has now moved from America to Britain in the hope that her famous connections may lead to her securing a record deal.

The record entitled ‘A Is For Album’ also sees Healy in a production role and while Hug does not currently have a record deal, her album is available via the internet. For more info check out susiehug.com
