The Zutons To Release New Single

added 04 November 2004 at 10.53

While the band's recent sell-out tour was cut short due to illness in the group, The Zutons have confirmed the release of a new single and rearranged their recently cancelled tour dates, as promised.

The Zutons have confirmed yet another single release from their Mercury nominated 'Who Killed The Zutons?' record. The band will release 'Confusion' next month through Deltasonic.

The single will hit shops on December 13 and is currently featured on a Peugeot television advert.

B-sides will include a session version of 'Jump Sturdy' (recently selected as the theme for the new Levi's ad campaign in America) and the original version of 'You Will, You Won't'.

Following the cancellation of the remainder of their UK tour, the band have rearranged the dates following the recovery of drummer Sean Payne from a severe viral infection. Payne fell last month forcing the band to scrap stheir London’s Shepherds Bush Empire, Derry, Belfast and Dublin shows.

The band recently told Xfm that they hope to begin work on their second album in the very near future.

“We’re playing a new song ‘Weekend Scrub’ in the set,” saxophonist Abi Harding revealed. “It might be on the next album or it might not. We’ve got lots of other ideas as well, but we just need some time to finish the writing before we go in and start recording.

‘Weekend Scrub’ is just one of those songs about trying too hard too hard to pull. It’s a bit more groove-based and just more dynamic like some of the later songs that we’ve done like ‘Dirty Dancehall’ and ‘Pressure Point’."

The Zutons release 'Confusion' on Decmber 13 while the re-released album ‘Who Killed The Zutons?’ featuring recent single 'Don't Ever Think (Too Much) is out now.

The band’s rearranged tour dates are as follows. Tickets from the cancelled October tour will be valid for these dates.

  • Dublin Ambassador (December 11)
  • Derry Nerve Centre (12)
  • Belfast Spring And Airbrake (13)
  • London Shepherds Bush Empire (15)
  • Liverpool Royal Court (17, 18)
  • Cambridge Junction (21)
