The New Doves Album Incoming

Manchester three-piece Doves are close to completing their third studio album, the follow-up to 'The Last Broadcast' and have spoken about its progress. The band also found time to join New Order on stage to remember Manchester legend and former manager, Rob Gretton.
The band have confirmed that they have already completed nine tracks for the album and set a release date of February 2005.
"We've got eight or nine recorded and mixed already," lead singer and bassist Jimi Goodwin told 6music. "We're just gonna keep writing. We're having a month off to write two or three more and we've got four more we've recorded but not mixed.
"We never rule out something coming in the last minute - 'Pounding' was the day before mastering, man. We'd done it and we thought this is just too good not to have on the album."
The band are set to head to Scotland in the coming months to continue sessions for the album in a remote, purpose-built studio. Which will mean that the band will spend a rare summer away from the UK festivals.
"I'm pretty upset. We've not missed Glastonbury for six years and we're not doing Glasto because we want to get this right."
However, the band recently found time to remember one of the most legendary figures on Manchester's music scene by appearing at a star-studded gig.
Rob Gretton was a key part of legendary Manchester label Factory Records, managed New Order and worked with Factory mainman Tony Wilson to set up The Hacienda club. Gretton died of a heart attack five years ago, aged just 46.
Doves were joined on stage by New Order's Bernard Sumner for a rendition of his track 'Bizarre Love Triangle'.
