The Man Flu - Travis Frontman Falls Ills

Travis frontman Fran Healy has been stuck down with illness and hospitalised just days before his band’s upcoming Japanese tour, causing the cancellation of six gigs (and a “mental rash”) and forcing the singer to stay in bed for six weeks.
Travis were about to travel to Japan to play series of gigs including dates in Tokyo, Nagoya, Kawasaki, Hiroshima and Osaka. However Healy has been stuck down with a viral infection causing the rescheduling of the tour. A message on the bands official website www.travisonline.com reads.
“It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of the forthcoming Travis tour in Japan. Fran was admitted to hospital last weekend suffering from a severe viral infection. Following several days of tests, Doctors have advised that Fran is unfit to travel to Japan and needs time to recuperate and receive treatment.”
“Travis would like to sincerely apologise to all their fans for any inconvenience this may cause.”
Fran himself left a message on the site after leaving hospital, reassuring fans that while his illness gave him a “mental rash” and he’s been told to have three weeks rest, he’s doing okay.
“Feeling better,” he explains, “We just got back from filming Parky and that night I felt a bit weird and then 2 days later I felt bloody awful and then I got this mad rash on the Saturday and the doc said I should go to the hospital, in case it was something "super baad" but thankfully it wasn't. They suspected some viral thing but wanted to keep me in for observation.
”So that was me in hospital for a couple of nights while they watched me and took tons of tests and a load of blood. I went back home on Monday but on Tuesday I had to go back in when an even more mental rash appeared. Then they did a whole bunch of other tests. They concluded that I had something called parvovirus, or fifth disease which is something that affects a lot of kids and some adults and is quite common.
“They said it makes you come out in a rash, and attacks your joints but my joints were fine. Then I woke up the next day and my joints were killing me. Thankfully the achy knees only lasted a couple of days and the rash is gone too but the doc said I should rest for 2-3 weeks even if I feel like getting up. I gotta say, I'm gutted that we can't come to Japan. Sorry Japan. Really sorry. “
