The Kinks Ray Davies Shot In Leg

According to reports, Ray Davies, singer with '60s pop outfit The Kinks was shot in the leg yesterday (Sunday January 4) while he was on holiday in New Orleans.
Early reports claim Davies was shot in the right thigh in New Orleans after attempting to chase down two men who allegedly stole his girlfriend's purse at gunpoint in the street
Davies, 56, was admitted to the Medical Center of Louisiana and kept in overnight. The singer is said to be recovering well and his injuries have been judged not serious.
"He was walking east of the French Quarter with a female friend. Two men walked up. They apparently took the female friend's purse. He chased them." explained Captain Marlon Defillo, "One of those persons turned and shot him in the leg and we have arrested one person."
New Orleans police are reportedly looking for the second person involved.
Dvies was responsible for penning a string of classic songs for The Kinks throughout the '60s and '70s including 'You Really Got Me', 'Waterloo Sunset', 'Lola', 'David Watts', 'Victoria', 'Sunny Afternoon' and 'All Day And All Of The Night'. While the band split in the early '90s, Davies continues to tour and record to this day.
On January 2 this year Davies and fellow '60s music legend Eric Clapton have received royal honors, becoming Commanders of the Order of the British Empire.
