The Future of Jimmy Eat World

Before playing a couple of UK shows Mesa, Arizona Emo quartet Jimmy Eat World swung by Music:Response to play some taster tracks from new album 'Futures' and chat to Sarah Darling. Check out their session and interview right here.
Astonishingly Emo-pop rockers Jimmy Eat World have been around for a decade - after forming in ‘94 they released their debut album on indie label Wooden Blue. They signed to Capitol and released ‘Static Prevails’ and ‘Clarity’ before moving on to DreamWorks for the release of ‘Bleed American’ (later re-released as simply 'Jimmy Eat World' in the wake of the September 11 attacks). Now they're signed to Interscope, and about to release new album ‘Futures’ (due on October 11).
The band dropped by Music: Response to talk about playing water polo with My Chemical Romance, launching their own radio station and their new album 'Futures': "We feel more pressure now because more people than ever are waiting for the new release, we had to make sure we felt really good about it, we became extreme perfectionists...We challenged ourselves, by trying to get outside of our creative comfort zone". Cranking out a blazing salvo of melody-driven destruction that confirms they are still at the top of the tree when it comes to catchy, edgy emo-guitar anthems. Gil Norton-produced and released on October 4.
Jimmy Eat World 'Futures'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Title track and taster from the new album. A darker, more political and mature melding of rock and pop, edging away from their trademark emo sound.
