The Darkness Play Club Date This Month

Xfm can reveal that The Darkness will be playing a special one-off show this month as a warm-up for their forthcoming winter tour. Whilst the gig will be smaller than the band’s impending stadium shows, it’s hardly intimate…

With rumours of frontman Justin Hawkins’ hand injury rife, Xfm can reveal that The Darkness will be playing a one-off warm-up show this month in London on November 23 at the Brixton Academy which will serve as a warm-up for the band’s forthcoming arena tour.

Tickets go on sale this Friday morning (November 5) at 9.00am and will be available from the Xfm Xchange on 0871 222 1049 or from the Xfm Online Ticket Shop by clicking here.

Support on the night will come from The Answer.

The band's management have denied rumours that Justin's hand was damaged during a violent altercation over the weekend. The Sunday Mirror had claimed that Hawkins was involved in a drunken fight with a mystery attacker in London and, after being punched in the face, stumbled into a stained glass window severing the tendons in his hand.

However an official statement sent to Xfm claims that while Justin did indeed damage his hand, the injury was only slight and the touted "drunken bar brawl" didn't take place at all.

"We confirm reports this weekend that Darkness frontman and guitarist, Justin Hawkins, has sustained a slight injury to his right hand.  There was no altercation as was alleged." it reads.

It goes on to explain that despite rumours to the contrary Justin's injury hasn't hampered his involvement in the upcoming Band Aid III single, saying.

"This injury poses no threat to their arena tour or his participation in the Band Aid III single.  Justin is able to play his guitar with his continued flair and is currently in tour rehearsals."

Hawkins spent a night in the £600 a day Princess Grace Hospital in Harley Street where doctors repaired his hand, which needed several stitches under general anaesthetic. Hawkins checked himself out and has been recovering at home. It’s reported that the singer will now have to attend twice-weekly physiotherapy sessions to regain the full use of his hand.
