The Cure Return With New Album

added 21 April 2004 at 10.26

Coinciding with news of their first UK festival appearances in many a year, comes reports that The Cure have signed a new record deal with US giants Geffen and will be releasing their first new album in four years.

This will be the band’s first album of new music since 2000's ‘Bloodflowers’ and marks frontman Robert Smith’s 13th studio record, with the band. Off the back of the new deal with I Am/Geffen the group have been recording in London's Olympic Studios with producer Ross Robinson (more known for his work with bands like Korn, Limp Bizkit and At The Drive-In).

The Cure’s line up will remain the same as it has since 1994 with Robert Smith on vocals and guitar, Simon Gallup on bass, Perry Bamonte on guitar, Jason Cooper on drums and Roger O'Donnell on keyboards.

The new as yet untitled album is expected to be released on June 21, nicely coinciding with the band’s headline performance on the second day of the Coachella Festival in the US.

The band will also be playing two UK festival dates at the Move Festival in Manchester on July 9 and Oxegene in Ireland on July 10.
