Super Furry Animals To Release Greatest Hits

added 30 July 2004 at 13.20

The Welsh musical genius that is Super Furry Animals have announced details of a Greatest Hits package released this October as well as a special one-off London event.

Far from the usual Do-a-Greatest-Hits-to-end-a-waning-career album, 'Songbook - The Singles Volume One' follows the band over 21 tracks including 17 UK Top 40 Hits. Released on October 4, the band will mark the release with a special extravaganza called Lightening Fryday at London’s Royal Festival Hall, NME reports.

The event will take place on October 1 and is described as one of the band's most ambitious live events yet. Reports suggest the band intend to take over the venue in true Super Furries style for an eclectic evening with a live performance, related activities and special guests in several rooms, extending beyond the RFH boundaries to nearby landmarks. Ticket details will be released soon.

A DVD featuring all the group's videos to date, as well as a previously unseen 40-minute on-the-road documentary will also be released.

The band will mark the compilation’s release by hitting the shops with a 20-minute live version of their classic 'The Man Don't Give A Fuck' on September 20 recorded at London Hammersmith Apollo on the band's last UK tour.
