'Music Was Saved'
"We open all the ghigs with that one. We just wanted to display the positive side to the band and how confident we are in our abilities, how we thnik we can become a band of real importance. Just a call to arms really." [listen]

'Fidelity'
"For me, it's just about the double standards that exist between men and women. You get men who go off and sleep around and the heglect the wife, or whatever. But if the other party behaves like that they'll come down on them really hard." [listen]

'Some Of Us'
"It's about vices, whatever gets through the day really. I think for a lot of people it's listening to records, or smoking weed or having a drink, Just whatever people choose to see them through." [listen]

'Silence Is Easy'
"There were four of us in the live room and Phil [Spector, producer] just wanted to get a great take. Once the drums and bass were down we just layered iut and layered it. There're three basses on that song, and about seven guitars. And a couple of pianos." [listen]

'Telling Them'
"I think it's the song on the album that's closest to my heart and the best, most honest lyrics that I've written to date. It's informed by the birth of my baby daughter." [listen]

'Shark Food'
"It's like the sister song to 'Music Was Saved'. Where that has the all-out overconfidence 'Shark Food's showing our more paranoid, anxious side; 'What if it's not our time? What if we release this album and people just don't get it?'" [listen]

'Bring My Love'
"I was listening to a lot of Scott Walker and Jack Bell. I just wnated to write a really grand romantic song which read as poetry as well. Just something kind of timeless, I think I came close to achieving that." [listen]

'White Dove'
"Me and Barry [Westhead, keyboards] were rehearsing and Phil's saying 'They got a great vibe, they got a great vibe, we gotta get this next take!' And Danton, the engineer, said 'It's alright I've already got it'. And that's what ended up on the album." [listen]

 'Four To The Floor'
"We're coming from a 'Love Unlimited' sort of vibe. We just thought 'What's the one thing that people would never expect from us?', like this huge disco track. When we wrote it we thought 'We can't do this, this isn't us.' Then we thought 'We can do whatever we want.'" [listen]

'Born Again'
"We recorded it in a little studio where we record all our b-sides and everyone was like 'This is too good to waste on a b-side'. So we put the demo on the b-side and decided to do it again." [listen]

'Restless Heart'
"It's about when you first sleep with a girl and you wake up the next day thinking 'Where's this gonna go? Is this gonna be the girl of my life? Am I ever going to see her again?'"  [listen]
