Snow Patrol Cancel Scottish Gigs

Snow Patrol have been forced to pull out of playing two tiny Scottish shows scheduled this weekend for the tiny island of Arran. The band were due to play on Saturday and Sunday night (April 10 and 11) at the Brodick Town Hall, but have had to reschedule the shows as police fear a "mini Woodstock" may take place.

"We're really disappointed that we are unable to play on Arran," singer Gary Lightbody explained. "These shows were booked before we released 'Run', and things have obviously gone a bit mad for us since then."

The band will now play Glasgow QMU this Sunday (April 10) with tickets for either of the Arran shows guaranteeing entry to the QMU gig.

"The local police on Arran now think that they will have a mini Woodstock on their hands and the conditions they have imposed on us at this late stage make it impossible to play there" Lightbody continued. "We hope that everyone who planned to go to Arran will be able to make it to the new show at the QMU, and we'll do our best to make sure that it's a brilliant show - we may even throw a few surprises into the set."

Snow Patrol release new single 'Chocolate' April 12, while the album 'Final Straw' is out now. The band have already confirmed appearances at this year's Oxegen, T in the Park, Isle of Wight and V Festivals, with appearances at Glastonbury and the Carling Weekend by no means out of the question.

The island of Arran has a population of just 4,500 and is rarely visited by pop bands.
