Scissor Sisters @ The London Astoria

Xfm's Winter Warmer show last year saw an incendiary set from the then little-known New Yorkers - they've since bust in to the nation's consciousness with an astonishing reworking of 'Comfortably Numb' and now, with their debut album released this week, Xfm proudly presents Scissor Sisters live on your desktop.
Scissor Sisters Live @ The Astoria [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Imagine Elton John fronting T-Rex with the Bee Gees singing back up and you're getting about close as anyone can to Scissor Sisters. Five New Yorkers arrayed in varying degrees of freakishness, they've got the hip-shakin' hedonism of disco, the loin-throbbing force of funk and the air-punching power of rock at their beck and call.
Live, they give it out like a bisexual Village People on loan from the year 2020, strutting from one electrified verse to the next whilst bleeding arrogance from every pore.

'Take Your Mama'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
The high rolling opener, rich with promises of pleasure to come. Some kind of story about taking a friend's mom to some kind of predatory dating event. As with most things where the Scissor Sisters are concerned, sex is guaranteed.

'Laura'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Kicks off like a slap-bass ho-down with the Sisters offering a united front in the footlights - probably the closest thing to a straightforward love song they've ever written - 'Where is your love?/Won't you get me your love?'
'Comfortably Numb'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
By now infamous in the sonic cathedrals and Moog mosques where fans of prog rock gather - this re-imagines the Pink Floyd overdose-soundtrack classic as a falsetto-ridden, foot tapping disco number.
