Ryan Adams In His Own Words

added 21 January 2004 at 17.43

The achingly prolific Ryan Adams came by Music: Response to play live and talk to Ian Camfield about how much he hates going round radio stations doing promotion. Ryan's new single, 'So Alive', is out now.

Famously uncomfortable with the business and promotional aspects of the music industry, North Carolina singer/songwriter Ryan Adams nonetheless came by for a Music: Response live session and to deliver a lengthy soliloquay on the ultimate futility of commercial success: "...I just don't really know what money's got to do with creating art. If it's all about making money and becoming famous then that's a pretty fucking retarded thing to want because ultimately everyone's just gonna fucking die..." [listen]

Ryan Adams 'Something New I Think' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Not formerly titled as such, 'Something New I Think' is, possibly, the latest tune to spill from Adams' notoriously prolific muse. A jagged acoustic track, even bereft of context it's a powerful paen to isolation.
