Radiohead have announced that they will release an exclusive new track in conjunction with the charity War Child.
The track will be available exclusively via download and is the first in a series of exclusive tracks on the way from established and up-and-coming UK acts.
Radiohead will release the new track to mark the launch of War Child’s new music website warchildmusic.com on September 9. The track will be a Johnny Greenwood remix of the single ‘Go To Sleep’, recorded live in Osaka.
Costing just 99p, all profits will go directly toward helping children around the world. Other bands involved with the new website Keane, London hopefuls Bloc Party and Brighton’s Lucky Jim who will all be donating exclusive tracks in the near future.
"Every track, and we’re after everything from covers to acoustic versions, live recordings, alternative mixes, remixes or simply unreleased tunes - will be exclusive to Warchildmusic," James Topham of War Child explains. "This is an ongoing project which we’re sure will quickly become essential for artists and fans alike. Although the profits are going to charity, the site is all about music."
The website also offers all 20 tracks from 1995’s groundbreaking ‘Help’ charity album (featuring everyone from Blur to Orbital) for just £3.50 or 99p a track if you want to cherry pick your favourites.
