Radioactive Man & Pink Grease

The final night of the X-posure 5th birthday shows is an eclectic affair - flamboyant Sheffield sextet Pink Grease mash up glam, disco and punk with gay abandon whilst rubbing shoulders with Warp recorders knob-twiddler Keith Tenniswood, a.k.a. Radioactive Man. Check out both sets here.

Six determinedly androgynous chaps from Sheffield, Pink Grease deal in stomping glam ska disco punk. Oh yes. They also boast a homemade music machine amongst the tools of their trade (apparently it used to be the size of a shopping trolley and blow up a lot. It's now smaller and less dangerous). The 'All Over You' mini album got them their first dose of acclaim and forthcoming debut LP 'This Is For Real' should secure a hell of a lot more.
In a world that can hug the Scissor Sister's to it's bosom Pink Grease shouldn't have too much trouble making new friends and tonight they're gloriously joyous. Flamboyant in make-up and pringle cardigan, frontman Rory pouts and snarls his way through 'The Pink Grease' and 'Into My Heart' while the 'machine' pumps out moody atmospherics and God knows what else. One of the few serious attempts to actually reinvent rock 'n' roll rather than just give it a new haircut.

[Broadband]
As one half of the cult dance duo Two Lone Swordsman with Andrew Weatherall and a contributor to David Holmes' acclaimed 'Let's Get Killed' album, Radioactive Man - a.k.a Keith Tenniswood - is no stranger to bleeps and beats.
Working from behind banks of heavily flightcase, bizarrely complex music machines Tenniswood filled the Barfly with increasingly complex woven tapestries of sound, beats and rhythms, textures and riffs as many and varied as you'd expect from a Warp recording artist. Check out the new Two Lone Swordsmen album, due in May.
