Prince Celebrates Birthday Of Purple Rain

Prince will be commemorating the 20th anniversary of his classic film ‘Purple Rain’ later this year with a re-release of the movie, including all manner of extra features over two DVDs.
‘Purple Rain: The 20th Anniversary Two-Disc Special Edition’ will be released on October 18 on Warner Home Video.
Included on the package is an all-new digital transfer of the 1984 Oscar winning movie in full Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and widescreen, plus commentaries from director Alber Magnoli, producer Robert Cavallo and cinematographer Donald E. Thorinand plus three new ‘featurettes’.
Also included will be eight classic Prince music videos ‘Let's Go Crazy’, ‘Take Me With U’, ‘When Doves Cry’, ‘I Would Die 4 U/Baby I'm A Star’, ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Jungle Love’, ‘The Bird’ the wonderfully named ‘Sex Shooter’, and footage from the film’s 1984 MTV Premiere Party.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Prince’s other movies (the artistically questionable ‘Graffiti Bridge’ and the indecipherable and execrable ‘Under the Cherry Moon’) are also making their debut on DVD on October 18.
Prince recently made his comeback to the live arena staging a greatest hits tour of the US and is rumoured to be touring the UK – maybe even playing the Glastonbury Festival – in 2005.
