New Pixies Album For 2005?

According to reports, reformed legendary alt rock outfit Pixies are planning on recording an album of brand new material and frontman Frank Black has explained he has a rather unlikely producer in mind for the project.
The band, featuring the full original line up of Black, bassist Kim Deal, guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering last released an album (‘Trompe Le Monde’) back in 1991, two years before their split.
Now Black has stated they intend to record a new album, and has stated he would like equally legendary songwriter Tom Waits to produce the new record because "I like the way his records sound."
In an interview with the New York Times, Marc Geiger from
the Pixies’ longtime booking agents the William Morris Agency, explained that the band will hopefully commence recording the new record early in 2005.
As previously reported, Pixes recorded their first new material in over 13 years last month. The track ‘Bam Thwok’ was released exclusively online though Apple's iTunes Music Store for 99p.
The Pixies will be co-headlining the V Festival on Saturday August 21 in Staffordshire and Sunday August 22 in Chelmsford.
The band's warm up date at the The Forum in North London on August 20 was announced last week, with all the tickets (not surprisingly) selling out within minutes of going on sale. Tickets are already changing hands on online auction sites for four times their face value.
