Modest Mouse 'Good News For People Who Love Bad News'

Finally coming of age after eight years of brushing up achingly close to greatness, Modest Mouse deliver their awesome sixth album. Check it out here.
Isaac Brock's crew return with another stab at greatness and the good news for poeple who like Modest Mouse is that his in-your-face, bombastic vocal stylings have not been cast aside in pursuit of the potential they've been promising ever since 1996's 'This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About'. The laid-back, honky-tonk piano of 'Black Cadillac' is a prime example of accessiblity and intensity merged, calling to mind Counting Crows, sans blandness, and fronted by an unusually furious Nick Cave.
Elsewhere, with 'Blame It On The Tetons' for example, we're headed for a different kind of mile-wide, Mid-West territory, specifically the fragile fields of Mercury Rev. In truth most of the album oscillates between these two points, but Brock finds such variety of moods and rhythms in between that it's anything but formulaic. From the down and dirty to the epic and statuesque Modest Mouse are nothing if not eclectic.
And, of course, Xfm playlist staple 'Float On' is here in all its determined, switchbacking glory. Fill in the form below to get to the music.
