James Brown Confirmed For Glastonbury?

added 26 January 2004 at 12.06

According to new reports, the Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Showbusiness, Mr James Brown will be playing the 2004 Glastonbury Festival, while rumours continue to circulate as to whom else will be appearing.

After an interview with Michael Eavis, the BBC claimed that Brown is confirmed to play the Sunday evening of the three day event which takes place Friday June 25 till 27 at Worthy Farm, Pilton, Shepton Mallet in Somerset.

However there has been no official confirmation of this from Glastonbury organisers at time of writing.

Elsewhere, reports that Prince is to headline one night of the festival are being denied by many of his fan websites (he was rumoured to be playing last year too), but representatives for Oasis and Paul McCartney are still not denying their possible (and much rumoured) appearances.

Tickets for the festival will be going on sale at 8.00pm on Thursday April 1 2004 and will cost £112 + booking fee, post and packaging. Tickets will be restricted to two per person and will be personalised to prevent unauthorised reselling.

Bands unofficially confirmed (i.e. the acts themselves have stated they’re playing) include Basement Jaxx, The Cure and Daniel Bloody Bedingfield, while other rumoured inclusions on the bill are Doves, Damien Rice, The Bees, Starsailor, Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Idlewild and The Strokes
