High Spirits With The Duke Spirit

added 25 November 2004 at 16.19

The Duke Spirit flew in from Ireland and headed straight to Music:Response to play live and chat with Ian Camfield about their rise to cult status. Check out the session and interview here.

Four boys and a girl who share a passion for The Velvet Underground and Joy Division, The Duke Spirit formed two summers ago and got on with the job of making some decent tunes.

Taking their name from 'some words that stood outi na book we saw once' (?) the Duke Spirit talked to Ian Camfield about the vagaries of the internet and life touring with The Vines: ‘They were on their big tour bus and we were in our shitty van’ [listen]

The Duke Spirit 'Cuts Across The Land' [Dial-Up] [Broadband
A splendidly naughty cut of cutting edge garage rock.

The Duke Spirit 'Dark Is Light Enough' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
An ‘80s art-rock vibe and Liela Moss’s vocals make this punk-funk indie piece more distinctive than most.
