Green Day In Cola Clash

In a move that will probably see the late Clash singer Joe Strummer spinning in his grave like a gyroscope, US punksters Green Day have re-recorded the classic "I Fought The Law [and The Law Won]" for a TV commercial.
The song was recorded especially for a cola company (whose name need not be mentioned here) advertisement which ran yesterday (Sunday 1) during the Super Bowl.
In a strange case of an international multinational corporation joining blatant commercial exploitation and making a possibly valid statement about the music business’ draconian reaction to the internet, the advert features 16 real life teenagers who were sued by the recording industry for illegally downloading music.
The track itself will only be available to be purchased on-line at Apple’s i-Tunes system from today (February 1), but at present its not known whether the song itself will be included on the new Green Day album release.
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has been talking about his band's new record (which is expected this summer) on his official website.
"We have a new album and I’m really excited about it,” He explained, “I think it's going to blow some people away. It's really blowing me away, and that's why I play music."
"As long as I'm blowing myself away, then I'll continue to do this. I know it's taken me about three and a half years so far to blow myself away but I just want to make sure. I wouldn't say I'm a perfectionist, but I just want things to be great. I want things to be exceptional."
