According to reports a new movie documenting the life of country music legend Johnny Cash may start shooting in June, with ‘Gladiator’ star Joaquin Phoenix taking the starring role.

Filming Starts On Johnny Cash Biopic

The producers of the biopic have claimed that the film, entitled ‘Walk the Line’ after Cash's 1956 hit, will feature Phoenix in the lead with Reese Witherspoon as his wife, June Carter Cash.

The $28 million movie will document Cash's life, from his youth working on his parent’s cotton farm in Arkansas in the '40s, to his early success with Sun Records in Memphis in the ‘50s and thorough to his days as a superstar in the 1960s and his problems with alcohol and substance abuse.

Ridiculously, considering the years Cash spent in Memphis, Tennessee and his ties with the areas music and history, the state may not provide the location for the film as there are reports that Louisiana is trying to outbid Tennessee with tax breaks and incentives.

Johnny Cash died aged 71 on September 12 2003. June Carter, his wife of 35 years, died at age 73 the previous June.
