Fatboy Slim Confirms Single And Teases Tour Details

Fatboy Slim a.k.a. Norman Cook explains why ‘Slash Dot Dash’ was chosen to be the first single to be lifted from his new album ‘Palookaville’ and how a dance music producer ended up adding White Stripes-style “monstrous guitars” to the mix.

Fatboy Slim makes his return this autumn with the September 13 release of first single ‘Slash Dot Dash’. Released across three formats, the single is set to feature a number of different B-sides in the shape of album track ‘Jin Go Lo Ba’, a Jon Carter remix, ‘Close To Home’ [featured in the recent O2 ad campaign] and another new track ‘What They Looking For’.

‘Slash Dot Dash’ is a mix of old and new Fatboy,” Cook explains. “There is repetition but this time the track actually has live guitars! The plan was to throw in a bit of Buzzcocks and the White Stripes. The track is just a comment on this new language people seem to have - although I don’t even own a computer. Well, I do, the Atari in my studio, but no one ever sent me an email on that!”

With a video shoot scheduled for next week, Fatboy Slim has this time hauled in Tim Pope as director. While Cook has previously admitted that he sees little need for him to make music videos, and even less need for him to be in them, it’s rumoured that he will be present for the shoot meaning a cameo role may not be out of the question.

Details are set to be released next week of Fatboy Slim's UK tour in October. Tickets go on general sale Friday August 6, but by registering for information updates at www.fatboyslim.net you can get priority in the queue.

The album 'Palookaville' is released on October 4 and features guest appearances from, amongst others, Damon Albarn, Lateef from Blackalicious, Latryx and Bootsy Collins.
