Echelon

Dirty drone-rock proggers Echelon concocted a tangled brew of acoustic fuzzed-up folk and psychedelic pop rock in their emotive Xfm set. Check out their exclusive session.

Echelon 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]

Apparently Echelon is the name of the largest and most powerful intelligence gathering organisation in the world, which is run by NATO. It's also the name of a young indie guitar jangling fourpiece signed to Poptones and influenced by The Byrds, Miles Davis and Talk Talk. The Essex lads do dreamy, spooky chilled out country rock with soaring heartfelt vocals and haunting harmonies.

Paul Usher's vocals ricochet across relaxed mellow melodies on the folky, hooky, proggy, poppy, rocky ‘Plus’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband]. Murmuring tales of loathing and guilt feature heavily on the rustic rural rock of 'Harp Song' [Dial-Up] [Broadband], which is followed by the raucous riff ridden late 70s punk assault of 'Humble' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] stumbling into a prog flight of fancy, capturing the magic of the band beautifully.
