Xfm Online can reveal that former Suede singer Brett Anderson and guitarist Bernard Butler’s new band The Tears will be playing their first ever headlining UK tour in January next year.

The band, former by Anderson and Butler earlier this year and including onetime McAlmont Butler drummer Mako Sakamoto and Nathan Fisher on bass, will be undertaking an 18 date tour of the UK in January.

Starting on January 21 in Edinburgh at the Liquid Room, the jaunt takes in a show at the Electric Ballroom in London on February 1 and culminates with a show at the Oxford Zodiac on February 11.

The Tears have just completed their debut as-yet-untitled album (recorded mainly in Butler’s home studio, and The Strong Room in East London) which is due for release in the Spring.

Support on all dates comes from hotly tipped outfit Ambulance Ltd.
