Ben Folds Cancels UK Tour

Ben Folds (of Ben Folds Five fame) has cancelled his first UK tour in over two years due to a respiratory infection.

Ben Folds has had to postpone his UK tour, set to kick off tomorrow (November 12) in Leicester, due to illness. A respiratory infection has left Folds is unable to travel or sing for at least a month.

The dates have, however, been rescheduled for June 2005 with original tickets still valid for the 2005 dates. Refunds will be also available at the point of sale.

"I am very sorry and disappointed to have had to reschedule my UK tour," a message on Folds' website explains. "Rarely in my career have I had to do this. I take missing a show very seriously, but in this case I had no choice, I've got a nice respiratory infection. I'm sorry I'm not there right now and I hope this whole thing doesn't screw up anyone's schedule too badly. Ben"

Since disbanding Ben Folds Five, Folds has been working solo, recording the ‘Rockin’ The Suburbs’ album in 2001 and recently releasing a series of EPs (the first two, ‘Sunny 16’ and ‘Speed Graphic’ are both only available online at http://www.recordstore.co.uk/).

Ben Folds also recently got together with Ben Lee and Ben Kweller to record a four song EP, aptly titled ‘The Bens 4-Song EP’

The rescheduled dates are as follows:

  • Lndon, Brbican (June 1)
  • Brighton, Dome (2)
  • Glasgow, Royal concert hall (7)
  • Dublin, Vicar Street (8)
  • Southampton, Guildhall (10)
  • Manchester, Lowry (11)
  • Sheffield, Octagon (13)
  • Leicester, De Montford Hall (14)
  • Cambridge, Corn Exchange (16)
  • Warwick, Arts Centre (17)
