Beck Set To Release New Album

Xfm Online can report that Beck is to release his eighth studio album later this year. The follow up to 2002's ‘Sea Change’ sees the diminutive folk funkster reunited with acclaimed ‘Odelay’ producers The Dust Brothers.

The new record is reported to be a distinct move away from the mainly acoustic low key nature of ‘Sea Change’, in part due to the involvement of producers Mike Simpson and John King (otherwise known as The Dust Brothers) who produced Beck's 1996 classic ‘Odelay’ and 1999's ‘Midnite Vultures’.

"It's pretty aggressive," Beck says of the new material in an interview with Rolling Stone, "I've been working on it for a while, but I ended up doing 'Sea Change' first. I've been wanting to do a record with loud guitars for a long time."

The new as yet untitled album is has been completed and is currently being mixed in Los Angles with an October release date scheduled. Songs expected to appear include ‘Guero’, ‘E-Pro’, ‘Scarecrow’ and ‘Chain Reaction’.

Elsewhere, there is a flurry of Beck activity around the ten year anniversary of the legendary ‘Mellow Gold’ album and Beck's first major label release.

To commemorate the anniversary fans can watch a new 3-part weekly series about the history and making of the album (featuring interviews from those associated with Beck and the record) on his official website www.beck.com.
