Unusually sinister for an NYC band, Ambulance Ltd hit the Xfm Studios to deliver three tracks of moodily atmospheric rock.
Ambulance Ltd. 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Ambulance Ltd. formed and live in New York City, but - perhaps because of their far flung origins - have eschewed most of that town's musical and satorial cues. The eponymous debut EP dropped a few months back but their Xfm Studio Session drew on it only once - for the superb 'Primitive (The Way I Treat You)' [Dial-Up] [Broadband ]; a bluesy tale of caddishness and bounderism shot through with genuine regret.
The other two tracks are presmbably destined for the five-piece's forthcoming debut LP. 'Ophelia' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] is a breezy exercise in guitars and keys, with Marcus Congleton's gently sibilant vocal sliding throughout like the snake in the garden. Finally. 'Oceans' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] clearly illustrates the band's impressive reach in style, building to a slow but intense conclusion.
