Zwan Bassist Quits Band To Join A Perfect Circle

added 07 August 2003 at 12.12

According to a new message from Paz Lenchantin, it appears that the bassist has left Billy Corgan's post Smashing Pumpkins outfit, Zwan to work with her bandmate David Pajo's Papa M project.

Lenchantin reportedly emailed fansite www.simplypaz.com explaining she has left the band to work with fellow Zwan member David Pajo on his ongoing Papa M project.

"I want to let you know that I am no longer with Zwan." she explained, "My experience with Zwan has been great but it is time for me to move on to new projects. This fall, I will be dedicating my time with David Pajo as Papa M. I am currently rehearsing for our up coming shows in October. We also hope to start recording shortly after that."

Lenchantin joined Zwan from A Perfect Circle, and was recently replaced by Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson. While ironically Billy Corgan's former Pumpkins bandmate, James Iha, has also joined A Perfect Circle, replacing Troy Van Leeuwen, who is now a full-time member of Queens Of The Stone Age. Very complicated and, indeed, incestuous.

To make things more complicated still Zwan, having cancelled their world tour for "family reasons" (see full story) are currently back working under the name Djali Zwan (different line incarnations of Corgan's outfit have been variously named Zwan, Djali Zwan and The True Poets Of Zwan) and its not know whether Lenchantin is involved in this new reincarnation.

Elsewhere, the second A Perfect Circle album is due later this year, and will be preceded by a new single entitled 'Weak And Powerless'.
