X-clusive: Strokes Duet With Regina Spektor

Xfm Online can exclusively reveal that during their current US tour, The Strokes took time out to dive into the studio with their longstanding producer Gordon Raphael to record a brand new song featuring singer/songwriter Regina Spektor.
The band have been supported by Spektor during their US jaunt, and according to producer Raphael, during days off in between concerts in Seattle (October 25) and New York (October 29) the group have recorded a brand new Strokes song called ‘Modern Girls’ featuring the Moscow born, New York-based pianist and ‘anti folk’ musician.
“I just got back from New York and Seattle watching The Strokes and Regina Spektor play amazing concerts.” Explains Raphael in a message to Xfm Online, “While in Seattle we recorded a brand new The Strokes song with Julian [Casablanca - Strokes vocalist] and Regina singing the lead part together!
“We recorded the song 'Modern Girls' at a gorgeous studio called Bear Creek out in the woodlands near town. Jules and Regina sang outside next to hundreds of amazingly tall trees into very old vintage microphones whilst a German Shepherd dog named Ella (vator) sat between them on the grass.
It also appears the track marks something of a stylistic departure for the band, and if the band have anything to do with it, the song will get a full release.
“The song sounds like an old time jazzy rocker being played on a radio from the late 1940's,” Raphael continues, “And the effect of the two superb singers is breathtaking and quite emotional.
“They want to release the song under the name of Regina And The Strokes, like some unknown classic band from way-back! Watch out world this is the future.....”
The Strokes full (sold out) UK tour dates are:
