X-clusive: Metallica Return To The UK

Fresh from their triumphant appearances at the Carling Leeds and Reading Weekender, Xfm Online can reveal that the uberlords of rock Metallica will be returning to the UK to play a headlining tour later this year.
Speaking exclusively to Xfm Online, Metallica frontman James Hetfield talked about their recent Summer Sanatorium tour, and the previously reported problems that the support bands had.
"I was pretty surprised about Linkin Park, they pulled it off a lot more than I expected," he explained, "I thought the Metallica fans would be out there playing football with the Linkin Park fan's heads. But they were pretty respectful"
"Limp Bizkit had a little bit of a difficult time. I dunno, its all-personal stuff I think. We just went out, did our show, acknowledged every band that was there, delivering what they deliver to the best of their abilities but the crowd was responding 'differently' to Limp Bizkit.
"I'm trying to be nice about this." he laughed, "They went out and did the best they could. Some nights they went off early, it was tough for them. Our fans are very dedicated and they like to let people know what they think."
The singer also cleared up the spoof story about Metallica taking another rock band to court for nicking their riffs.
"The rumour about us suing a band for using our trademark three chords?" he explained, "Totally, totally untrue. It was actually D, E and F, not the other ones that they said. Actually, I don't even know the names of all the chords anyway."
Hetfield also confirmed the rumours that after their European tour and festival dates, earlier this year, that Metallica will be returning to the UK for a full headlining tour, saying, "Yeah, we're gonna be coming back indoors for a tour properly, before the end of the year."
The full tour dates are expected to be confirmed in the next few days.
Metallica will also be releasing a special 12" vinyl format of their single 'Frantic' which will feature a new remix of the track by James Lavelle's U.N.K.L.E. outfit plus the original version from their 'St Anger' album. The track comes out on September 15.
