The Jam Set To Reform For Knebworth Gigs?

Reports in a daily tabloid newspaper have claimed that seminal rockers The Jam will be reforming to play five nights at Knebworth. Elsewhere, Weller is readying a collection of covers for a new LP.
The report had claimed that the band were reforming to play five nights at the legendary venue, a clutch of gigs that would have set a new record surpassing the past record set by Oasis and currently held by Robbie Williams' three sell-out shows this summer.
The story has been fuelled by reports that Weller has once again been playing Jam songs as part of his solo tour. However, it seems that these claims hold little truth with a representative from Weller's new record company, V2, rubbishing the story and confirming that the rumours are indeed just rumours.
It can be confirmed, however, that the former Jam/Style Council frontman will be releasing an album of cover versions entitled 'Forty Days And Forty Nights' after the Muddy Waters song. The album is tipped to feature songs by Sister Sledge and 60s folk rocker Tim Hardin among others.
He's also supporting the release of a double DVD entitled 'Two Classic Performances' which pairs a recent full-band gig in London's Hyde Park with a more intimate solo acoustic gig.
The Modfather has recently been out on tour in the states with Oasis's Gem Archer in tow playing a series of acoustic shows. December sees Weller arrive in the UK for a full band tour including a one-off date at London's Shepherds Bush Empire on December 16 in support of the homeless charity Shelter.
Tickets for the gigs are priced at £28 and are available from the Xfm Xchange on 0870 121 1049 and online from the Xfm Live Gig Guide by clicking here.
